Surroundings Beneath the farm at the foot of the mountain lies the Urdboe Lake. From the farm it is about 60 meters downhill to get to the lakeside. In summer you can swim in the lake, or do some sun bathing, boat rowing, raft building, canoeing or trout fishing. In winter, when the weather is good, you can skate on the lake or try you luck at ice fishing. Near the lake is a horse-riding course, where Linn gives horse riding lessons to the guests. At the end of the small Urdboe lake lies the biggest natural dam of Northern Europe. It consists of giant rocks which where pushed into the valley in the last ice age. There is a path that goes through the rocks and over de dam. It leads to the other side of the small Urdboe Lake and makes a nice walk in the afternoon. At the other side of the dam is the big Totak Lake. You can take a canoe from the farm and cross the dam to go canoeing on the Totak Lake. Going along the lakeside gives a beautiful view up to the mountains. There are many walking paths that run through the Urdboe valley and over the mountainsides. Some of them are pointed out by signs, others are waiting to be explored. |
